Moontides was a self published magazine published by the late great Stuart Cottingham, and Lady Orenda. It started out in 1983 as a small production, and by thend , after issue 10 in 1985 it was sold in occult bookstores throughout the country. I thought I was involved from the beginning, but I helped Stuart out by printing it on better paper, and a heavy cover for issue 3 I was credited as a contributor, and by issue 5 -10 I was the Marketing/Advertising Director. I should note that issues 9 and 10 were combined as a double issue for a variety of reasons.

Stuart was such a loving, gentle, talented soul who drew all the covers and lots of the artwork throughout the issues. I got him a job at The Sukon Group where I was working, and we were able to work on the magazine after hours, using all the art equipment and high speed copy machines. Many thanks to a wonderful boss Joe Harris, who didn't know it at first, but once we asked him he told us to do whatever we wanted. Sweet guy.

We played music together and circled. You might recognize his work if you ever hung out or went to the Wetland Preserve club down by the Holland Tunnel NYC. I miss him. Luckily his wife still maintains his site, so you can read more about him here: http://stuartcottingham.missvera.com/index.html

Since these pages all started out by finding pictures of Herman and the festival at the Magickal Childe, I'll bring this back home by saying that Herman was a great supporter of ours. He never failed to advertise in our tiny magazine, and unhesitatingly let us sell copies of it there. He refused to take a cut of the sales. Thanks Herman! You gave so many of us a start. Some of my best and longest-lasting friends are those I made at the Childe. Bright Blessings!
